Santa Clarita Valley Democrats Respond to Supreme Court’s Decision to Overturn Roe v. Wade

The Santa Clarita Valley Democrats released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s Decision to overturn Roe v. Wade:

We are disgusted and enraged by the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and roll back the right to privacy and abortion for millions of Americans.

Conservative elites claim to stand for liberty, choice and life. Yet, this decision and Republican legislators’ obstruction of life-saving gun safety, anti-poverty and reproductive healthcare reforms demonstrate they are dedicated only to suppression, authoritarianism and death.  

We do not have the luxury to mourn today and fight tomorrow. We fight now, fight through November, and fight onward as the Supreme Court has signaled their intent to attempt to overturn Lawrence, Griswold, and Obergefell. 

The Santa Clarita Valley Democrats and our allies across the Santa Clarita Valley are gathering tomorrow, June 25, at 7 p.m. on the corner of Valencia Boulevard and McBean Parkway to rally and send a message to our community, our leaders and the nation that we will not back down in the fight to defend reproductive rights.

We know that when we fight – when we organize, when we vote, when we commit to caring for one another – we win.
